Does your rear end flatten at the thought of not having patio swing cushions for your porch swing?  It might be because you are sitting on hard wood or a surface that is exposed to the elements creating an unpleasant environment for your hind side, not to mention your back.  Combine this with the fact that there is dirt and maybe even some flaking paint and such from natural wear and tear and you can see it is time to get a cushion for your swing.                                               Photo Credits

Does It Matter What Type of Swing Cushion You Buy?

The answer is dependent on how you wish to feel when you are sitting on your swing.  Most times, the cushion should simply help you to forget that you are sitting on a hard surface.  Sometimes, because of how they are built, a porch swing might have some give or play in the wood slats that it is made of.  Different swings are made of different materials.  Some porch swings are even free standing and have covers of their own.  This particular style usually has a soft seating area and is not a good candidate for some type of replacement swing cushion.

Another interesting feature of these types of patio swings is that some even come with an automatic swinging mechanism.  If you have kids, then you are likely familiar with this type of swing.  It can be a parents best friend when your baby just doesn’t want to sleep.  This gentle swinging and rocking is just as soothing for a baby as it is to an adult looking for some of that great rest and relaxation.

With the more traditional type of porch swing, where you might have chains hanging your swing from the underside of your porch or covered patio, uncovered wood seating is the norm.  As described, this type is more likely to need a cushion because it doesn’t come the way the other one does.

So, whether you own a traditional porch swing or newer patio swing style, making sure that you are covered – cushioned more appropriately – is a good idea.  Patio swing cushions can be as simple to order and find as regular patio chair cushions.  You can find them online or at your local home improvement stores.  If you have a unique or handmade and built patio swing, then you might need to consider having a custom made cushion for your swing.                                                                       Photo Credits

Patio Cushions: How About Another Silly Question?

Will the right patio furniture cushions make you more popular, be a hero to your friends, lose weight and be happier?  Come on, are you serious?  Of course they will!  Well, okay, they won’t help you lose weight.  But the rest could easily be true.  Think about it, you’re outside sitting on your totally comfortable (now) patio chairs when your neighbor peeks over to say hi.  He can’t help but see the cushion you’re sitting on.  Next thing you know, their talking about having a neighborhood BBQ get together.  After some planning and schedule conflicts, it works out that you say “great, we’ll have everyone over first”.  Let’s plan it for next Saturday evening…

New Life For Your Old Lawn Furniture

So, at this first inaugural neighborhood get together all the locals are having a good ol’ time.  Since you know you have the most comfortable outdoor patio furniture cushions these days, you invite your guests to gather around for the first toast.  You can just see the comfort oozing from their eyes.  They don’t even realize it yet.  The fact that they are sitting on your basic metal deck chairs doesn’t seem to bother them.  This in itself is cause for celebration.  I mean, once you’re out of college and can afford some nicer seating arrangements, comfort is king and chair cushions are where it’s at.  So, back to your party.  There you all are, sitting comfortably and enjoying the wonderful conversation – when, oops, someone spills some red wine on their (your new) cushion.  Not to worry, you know that they resist staining.  And, that’s when it happens…

As you go in to get a towel for them to clean up the spill, some of your other guests start talking about your patio chair cushions.  When you get back, all the conversations are about how they are so comfortable and feel so soft and padded.  Almost like they’re sitting on much more expensive furniture.  But you know that they were not anywhere near the cost of those new patio furniture sets you’ve seen.  That’s what it’s all about – enjoying some time outdoors with cherished friends and family.  And that’s how cushions for patio furniture can make you happier.
